“When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without heart.” – Lamar Boschman –
Worship is our response to God’s unfailing and undeserved love for us. He reveals Himself through His creation, through His Word and through Himself – as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and our hearts cannot help but respond to Him with gratitude and awe.
Throughout the week, as the Church disperses, we worship God by offering ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. On Sundays, as the Church gathers, our combined offering creates something brand new – something far beyond what any one of us could do individually – and together, we offer that to God in corporate worship.
As worship leaders, our role is to create an atmosphere where people feel comfortable in expressing their hearts to the Creator. It is not our – or anyone’s – place to tell people HOW their heart should respond to Christ… Simply to offer our own praise and thanks, individually and corporately.
We sing a varied style of modern worship songs and even a few traditional favorites, but our focus is not on the songs or the style, as much as it is on the reason for those songs. Highland is a church that LOVES to worship, and we hope you will join us in one of our weekly worship services!
