Highland Student Ministry Update

Dear Highland Family…

We understand that the unknowns of the Highland Student Ministry can be unsettling for the students, as well as the parents of our students. But rest assured, we have worked together with Pastor Dave and the student leaders to devise a plan to continue the growth of our Student Community while we search for God’s leader for Highland’s Student Ministry. This plan will include scheduling for Sundays, Wednesday nights, and events for our 7th graders through College until God has provided a new Student Minister.

This fall, our 7th – 12th graders will study the book of Mark. This study will focus on who Jesus is and the promises God has made for Jesus in our life. Joe and I will be dividing the students into boys and girls, allowing the students an opportunity to speak more freely among each other. We will continue to meet upstairs at 10:30 am Sunday mornings.

The College Ministry has shown a desire to explore a new and expanded path. Beginning this month, the college group will gather for worship at 9 AM, then meet for Bible study at Robert & Aimee Plumlee’s home, 1416 NE 5th, Moore on Sunday mornings at 10:45 am.

Wednesday evenings will begin each week downstairs for worship in the sanctuary at 6:30. After worship time, the students will be directed upstairs to dive into God’s word. For now, the College Ministry will continue to meet with the Jr. High and High School students on Wednesdays.

A schedule of the SNAC (Sunday Night After Church) events will be available to you very soon. We understand the need for families to plan and budget the potential costs. Our prayer is that every one is able to participate in these opportunities for fellowship.

The next big event the Highland Student Community will focus on is See You At the Pole (SYATP). SYATP is on scheduled to take place nationwide on September 25th, 2013 in the morning before schools starts. We will have a designated leader at each school in the Moore/Norman area to pray and encourage students to make a difference in their school communities.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord will all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” Of course when we make plans, God will adjust them as He sees fit. Please continue to pray for our Student Community during this transition. We pray that God will place a wonderful Student Pastor at our church in the very near future. Please contact us at (405) 317-7646 or jclandowski@aol.com should you have any questions or concerns. We thank you for your continued support and we look forward to God’s direction for our Student Community.

In Christ’s Love,
Crystal and Joe Landowski
